In June, black men celebrate the Festa da Senhora do Rosário, to the beat of the Tambores do Rosário, the Banda de Taquara Bem Posta and the beat of the guard boxes, bells and fireworks.

Screaming, auctioneers remember old João de Deus, who ran the auction:

“I'll give you one, I'll give you two, I'll give you three, take what's yours”.

On Saturdays, we have pequi by the dozen, children by the kilo, flour by the measure, lives in cangalhas and two mules for each stallholder. And the beauties of our mansions; the Chapel of São José de Botas; from Morro da Contagem; of the Waterfall of Souls? Just seeing it to believe it!
